Road Of Trials - Journey by AraDolls Road Of Trials - Journey by AraDolls
After we downloaded Journey last week we decided we just HAVE TO made a cosplay.
It took us roughly four days of buying supplies, working on the costume (while still having normal work to do) and finally taking pictures on a nearby hill.

And it was absolutely worth it.
ThatGameCompany has made a wonderful game and I\'m honoured I was able to take these pictures.
Thank you <3

Can you see with that mask?

I'm not the cosplayer, but I know that she was indeed unable to look through the mask.
But this was actually an accident, it was planned to give the mask eyes etc. with see through fabric, but we totally forgot that and had already applied the black fabric on the whole mask. She has a new mask nowadays where she can look through, but on these photos she was completely blind.

Ist ein kleiner Hügel auf einer Baustelle ;)
Die Perspektive lässt es nur nach mehr aussehen, aber in Wirklichkeit war das nicht viel Sand.

The sewing part is actually quite easy.
The cape is a circle with a slit on the back which we sewed together and the head part is a so called modified "Gugel".
Rest is painted on with a stencil and the scarf is just a long piece of fabric.

journey is such an amazing game and the cosplay is perfect!! are the "socks" part of some kind of zentai suit?
Reply
:iconaradolls:
AraDolls Featured By Owner Jun 28, 2012   Photographer
Not quite right, she's wearing very high tights and another pair altered to wear them as shirt. So it's like a zentai suit made of two pair of tights.

We actually went this cheap route because we knew we would most likely damage the leg and feet parts with the "surfing" and jumping photos. And believe me, the feet looked horrible after two hours of taking pictures and walking up and down a sandy hill with tiny stones :'D
I think for a convention a zentai would be the best idea, but for an action shooting it would be a waste of money.

If I only knew the name!
We used a thick fabric with a kind of structure in it so it looks more like some natural made fabric from an ancient tribe.
I cropped out the fabric from a photo so you can see the structure ->
[link]

However, it's very heavy so it's not moving that much in the wind and if you are not careful you get a structure that's too visible.
You also have to watch out that the lines of the structure (when you have several pieces of fabric sewn together) face all the same way. Else it looks weird :3

Holy jesus this is amazing. o___o Way to intimidate me about making my own Journey cosplay, haha.

I know you aid she wouldn't see out of the mask, but what exactly is it made out of? I've got to find a way to make a mask I can actually see out of, lmfao. My handlers aren't reliable enough to lead me around a convention for the weekend.

I think for you it would be best to make a mask that is very light and has the eyes roughly placed were your eyes are.
Maybe you can use this black net people use in their fursuits?
You can look through from the inside, but not from the outside :3

Wow.

It's probably the second best cosplay I've seen of Journey. Unless you somehow are the same person whom had posted their cosplay on a blog. O_O Which would make me laugh.

How do you see out of it? @_@
